Drivers traveling Route 8 in Bridgeport should expect lane closures and lane shifts this weekend, according to the Department of Transportation.
The work is part of the “Stage 2 Crossover Plan” and will include closures and shifts on Route 8 and Route 25 starting Friday night. The project is part of the rehabilitation of four bridges on Route 8 over Capitol Avenue and Lindley Street, the widening of exit 4 north off-ramp and Lindley Street.
At 7 p.m. Friday lane realignments will start on Route 8 and Route 25 on the northbound and southbound sides. The construction is expected to be completeby 7 a.m. Saturday, according to the DOT. Drivers traveling the area should plan extra travel time and seek alternate routes if possible. Detour signs will be posted to direct traffic.
