Two juveniles are in custody after an armed robbery in East Hampton led to a police pursuit in a stolen truck that ended in Norwich. Police said the juveniles are suspected in several other armed robberies as well.
East Hampton police said two suspects armed with a handgun robbed the Route 66 Package Store on East High Street in their town around 5:30 p.m., then fled in a vehicle. Cash was taken, and no one was hurt during the robbery.
State troopers who were alerted to be on the lookout for a truck involved in the robbery found it heading east on Route 2 and tried to stop it, but the driver fled, according to state police.
Emergency dispatchers said the suspects were stopped on Route 2 in Norwich near Harland Road. East Hampton, Norwich and Montville police were all at the scene, as well as Connecticut State Police.
The two juveniles who were in the truck ran and were taken into custody after a chase, state police said.
The truck the juveniles were in had been stolen from Hamden on July 27, according to state police. They said the suspects tried to commit an armed robbery in Canterbury earlier in the day and confessed to being involved in several other armed robberies in northeastern Connecticut as well as one in Dudley, Massachusetts.
Police in Dudley said the teens accused of the robbery are two 16-year-olds, a boy from Hamden and a girl from Canterbury. Authorities said evidence recovered from the teens included clothing, masks and a silver and black pistol.

The juveniles were transported to the Hartford Detention Center and Connecticut state police said more arrests are expected.
East Hampton police said they charged one juvenile with robbery in the first degree, criminal use of a firearm, reckless endangerment in the first degree and larceny in the fifth degree.
The other juvenile was charged with commit robbery in the first degree and conspiracy to commit larceny in the fifth degree.
Both are due in court on Aug. 16.
