West Hartford Police Arrest Shooting Suspect

West Hartford police have arrested a man accused of shooting another man during an argument Monday.

Police said they received a report around 12:10 p.m. that two people were arguing in the area of Prospect Avenue and West Beacon Street. Callers reported one man had an ax and the other had a gun. When officers responded, they found a 28-year-old victim, who was later determined to have been the man armed with a hatchet, and he was taken to the hospital. His injuries were not life-threatening and he has since been released from the hospital, police said.

The hatchet and a pistol were recovered at the scene, police said.

Later in the day investigators identified the suspect, 35-year-old West Hartford resident Daniel Davis.

Davis was found on Laurel Street in Hartford and arrested. He was charged with first-degree assault, criminal possession of a pistol, breach of peace, unlawful discharge of a firearm and first-degree reckless endangerment. He was held on a $500,000 bond.

This case remains active and more charges are possible.
