Daycare Workers Forget Kid at McDonald's

Two day care workers failed to leave no child behind when they apparently left one behind at McDonald's during a field trip. And he was only 2 years old.

Lorene Crowell, 57, who runs a Bridgeport daycare, and Annie Foust, 55, brought six children to the Playland at the Milford restaurant Friday for a field trip and didn't know the toddler was missing until officers called them later, police said.

Fortunately, half an hour later, restaurant workers realized that the boy was alone and called police, the Register reports.

“We were like, ‘Are you missing a kid?’ and they were like, ‘Yes, we are,’” police spokesman Officer Vaughan Dumas told theNew Haven Register.

Authorities said they got lucky. They got Crowell's phone number from an acquaintance of hers who just happened to be at the restaurant when officers arrived. The boy was unharmed.

Crowell and Foust are charged with felony risk of injury to a minor.

William Gerrish, spokesman for the state public health department, told the Register that the state has received one complaint involving Crowell and is investigating. The investigation will include a site visit and interviews with the complainants.
