LifeStar Airlifts Motorcyclist Injured in Gales Ferry Crash

LifeStar airlifted a motorcyclist to the hospital to be treated for injuries sustained in a crash with a car in the Gales Ferry section of Ledyard that closed a portion of Long Cove Road Friday.

The accident happened near the 900 block of Long Cove Road near the Hyde Park Road intersection about 1:29 p.m., according to Ledyard police and Gales Ferry firefighters. A LifeStar helicopter transported motorcyclist Lucas Page, 21, of Gales Ferry, to William W. Backus Hospital in Norwich.

Long Cove Road was closed for several hours between Route 12 and Baldwin Hill Road, but the road has since reopened.

Charles Grant, 76, of Gales Ferry, the driver of the car, wasn't injured.

Police have not released the names of the involved parties at this time.

Gales Ferry, Ledyard and submarine base firefighters responded, as well as the Ledyard Volunteer Emergency Squad.

No information has been released at this time on the motorcyclist's condition.
