Driver in Route 44 Barkhamsted Crash Airlifted to Hospital

Life Star airlifted New Hartford teenager to an area hospital after a collision with a car on Route 44 on Friday afternoon.

After stopping at at a stop sign on Old North Road, Christina Kovacs, 16, pulled into the path of the Chevy that Joseph John Rembock, 66, of Avon, was driving westbound, poice said.

The crash happened at 2:27 p.m.

Life Star transported Kovacs to Hartford Hospital to be treated for a potential head injury, police said. Passenger Lilian Kovacs, 46, who lives in New Hartford with Kovacs and owns the Audi she was driving, was transported by ambulance to Charlotte Hungerford Hospital as a precaution to have possible injuries evaluate. Rembock was also taken to Charlotte Hungerford as a precaution.

Police determined that Christina Kovacs was at fault in the crash and cited her with violation of a stop sign. 

Route 44 reaopened after a couple hours.
