LynFit Mixes Exercise and Thermogenic Eating

It’s widely known that eating right and staying fit is a big part of being healthy, however, that’s sometimes easier said than done.

One Connecticut woman has figured out how to get the figure you want, while still staying full in life.

“One by one, day by day, is my mission,” Lisa Lynn, the owner of LynFit Nutrition in Norwalk, said.

For Lynn, the number that counts is the number of people she has helped. The number of pounds those people have lost is just a plus.

“I want to give that gift of a quick fix to everybody,” Lynn said.

Some of the lives she has changed include big name clients, like Martha Stewart.

Lynn said it all started 30 years ago when she battled her own weight and it all changed when she became educated in nutrition and fitness.

“Learning what I teach now, with putting the exercise together with a specific diet to reach your goals,” Lynn said.

She calls it “LynFit,” a metabolic boosting method of exercise mixed with thermogenic eating. It sounds complicated, but Lynn said it all starts in the kitchen.

“Ninety percent is what you eat. So you can be a Cross Fit king or Pilates princess, but if you're not changing your diet … you cannot exercise away a bad diet,” Lynn said.

Eat clean with lots of fish and vegetables, she said, and emphasized that high protein is a must and people can start their day with one of her protein shakes, rather than a cereal for breakfast. This is all part of thermogenic eating.

“It's all about eating for your goal. Thermic means creating heat in the metabolism and when we create heat we are burning more calories.

Lynn said it is also important to work out, but her method only takes 30 minutes three times a week.

The key is using heavy weights and high intensity.

Her workouts can all be done at home, which is especially helpful during the holidays when the gym is hard to get to.

“If it's too hard, like schlepping to the gym, get yourself some dumbbells and make it simpler for yourself,” Lynn said.

In the end, she’s melting away the weight, but gaining so much more.

“The happiness that comes out -- it's life changing,” Lynn said.

Lynn will be at the NBC Connecticut Health and Wellness Festival, giving out samples and answering questions about LynFit Nutrition. The festival is on Sunday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the XL Center in Hartford.
