Man Accused of Stabbing Woman in Stomach in Willimantic

State police arrested a 20-year-old Lebanon man accused of stabbing a woman in the stomach in Willimantic.

State police received a 911 call just before 5 p.m. on Wednesday to respond to the Windham Heights Apartment Complex on Jeffrey Road because a victim had been stabbed in the stomach and was bleeding severely, police said.

Troopers and EMS responded to the apartment and started treating Chanquil Barnes, 24, of Willimantic. She was transported to Windham Hospital and then transferred to Hartford Hospital.

Police said the assailant had run from the scene toward a concrete company near the complex. They started searching and alerted police departments in the area.

Troopers saw a vehicle recklessly leaving a business near the scene with two people were in the car.

Albert Rosario, 20, of Lebanon, matched the description of the attacker, police said. He was taken into custody and charged with criminal attempt to commit murder, risk of injury to a child and breach of peace.

Rosario was transported to State Police Troop K, where he was processed and held on $100,000 bond. 

He will appear in Danielson Superior Court on Thursday.

The State Police Eastern District Major Crime Squad Detectives is also investigating the stabbing.
