Man Arrested on Drug Charges After Police Chase

An Ashford man was arrested on drug charges after leading state police on a chase before flipping his car early Sunday morning.

State police said they stopped Kyle Robinshaw, 20, of Ashford, on Route 74 in Ashford just before 12:30 a.m. on Sunday and smelled marijuana as they approached his car.

As another state trooper responded, Robinshaw fled and led police on a chase until he lost control of his car on Route 44, which went off the side of the road and flipped on its roof, according to a news release from police.

As police searched the car, they found 10.07 ounces of what appeared to be marijuana, as well as drug paraphernalia.

Robinshaw, who was not hurt, was taken into police custody and charged him with reckless driving, engaging police in a pursuit, several drug charges, possession of alcohol by a minor and interfering with a police officer.

He was released on a $1,000 bond and is due in court in Danielson on Nov. 24.
