Middletown Man Bites Friend's Ear During Dispute: Police

A Middletown man faces an assault charge after police say he bit his friend's ear during a visit to the victim's Miles Avenue home in town.

Police arrested Stewart Holley, 56, after responding to a reported assault at the home. Holley went there to pick up some tools after getting into an argument with his friend on the phone hours earlier, police said. The disagreement continued when he arrived, and Holley admitted to getting into a physical fight and biting his friend's ear, according to police.

Hunters EMS transported the victim to Middlesex Emergency Department, where he was treated for a minor injury to his left ear. The victim told police that he did not attack Holley.

Police charged Holley with disorderly conduct involving a fight causing minor injury and third-degree assault.

Holley has a prior criminal history of 54 arrests, which Middletown police learned from a State Police records check. His most recent previous arrest was in January 2013 and included disorderly conduct and third-degree assault charges, police said.

Police released Holley on a $5,000 surety bond. He is scheduled to appear in Middletown Superior Court on May 27.
