Man Charged After High-Speed Chase on I-95: State Police

A Brooklyn man was arrested Sunday after leading police on a car chase down Interstate 95 in Guilford, according to Connecticut State Police.

Police said 70-year-old Irwin Rutchik was driving around 85 mph when police first spotted him near exit 55 around 12:30 a.m. Rutchik hit 90 mph, at which point a trooper tried to top the vehicle. According to police, Rutchik refused to stop and reached speeds over 100 mph, swerving around traffic.

Rutchik was arrested and charged with engaging police in pursuit, reckless driving, failure to insure motor vehicle, interfering with an officer, following too close and failure to maintain lane. He was released on a $5,000 bond and Is due in court on Oct. 17.
