Man Charged With Flying Hamden Teen to California

The 14-year-old girl was reported missing Monday morning.

A California man is being held in the Sacramento county jail after he allegedly met a 14-year-old Hamden girl online and flew her back to the Golden State without her parents' knowledge.

Nathan Salas, 27, of Merced, was arrested on Tuesday at the Sacramento International Airport.

Investigators said he had cultivated a relationship with the girl over several months.

A Silver Alert was issued on Monday after the girl's parents reported her missing to Hamden police.

She had left a suicide note before disappearing from her home.

Police analyzed her phone and found a cell number for Salas.

The Merced County Sheriff's Department notified airport officials when investigators discovered airline tickets in their names.

Salas was booked for concealing a child without parents' consent and is being held on $100,000 bail.
