Man Killed Mom In Murder-Suicide Attempt: Cops

Police said he was attempting a murder-suicide.

A 60-year-old Stamford man has been charged with killing his 86-year-old mother in what he intended to be a murder-suicide, according to police.

Anthony Fiordelisi was trying to kill himself and did not want his mother, Marion Fiordelisi, to find his body, police said.

He was arraigned on Wednesday. He is being held on $500,000 bond and is on suicide watch.

He first took prescription pills and gave some to his mother, thinking that would kill both of them, police said.

But, then he woke up, slashed his mother's wrist to ensure she was dead  and slashed his own wrist, police said.

When police responded to the Sylvan Knoll Road house where Anthony Fiordelisi lived with his mother on Tuesday, they found Anthony Fiordelisi suffering from several self-inflicted wounds to his wrists. Marion was dead, in her bed in an upstairs bedroom.

Anthony Fiordelisi was transported to Stamford Hospital to be treated and was released on Tuesday  night.

Police took him into custody and charged him with murder. He was held on a $500,000 bond and will be arraigned in Stamford Superior Court on Wednesday.
