Man Charged in Stripper's Death

Waterbury police have charged a 45-year-old city man with providing a lethal dose of heroin that killed an exotic dancer in August.

Dennis Delucia was charged Friday with second-degree manslaughter in the death of 21-year-old Liana Berthiaume.

Police said Delucia gave five packets of heroin to Berthiaume about 15 minutes before she collapsed in the bathroom of the strip club. She died the next day at Waterbury Hospital.

Tests determined the heroin was almost 60 percent pure, and that the levels in Berthiaume's system were high enough to kill her.

Delucia faces up to 10 years in prison if convicted of manslaughter. He was held on a $75,000 bond and his case was continued until Dec. 12. He has not entered a plea.
