Man Crawls Through Bedroom Window, Breaks into Vernon Home

A Vernon police officer chased down the 18-year-old who they say crawled through a bedroom window and broke into a house early Sunday morning.

Police were called to 31 Center Street just before 3 a.m. after a woman called 911 because a man had broken into her home through her bedroom window.

The victim gave police a description of the male and told them which way he fled.

Vernon police Officer Anthony spotted the male suspect running away from the house. Anthony chased the suspect and caught him a short distance from the home.

Sam G. Luurtsema, 18, was identified as the man who had entered the house, police said.

He was arrested and charged with burglary, criminal trespassing, interfering with an officer and disorderly conduct.

Luurtsema was held on $150,000 bond and is scheduled to appear in Rockville Court on Nov. 25.
