Woman Dies After Being Struck By Train

A woman was killed when she was struck by a Metro-North train on Commerce Street in Norwalk on Wednesday morning, police said.

She was struck at 7 a.m. by a southbound train operating on the Danbury line, according to the Metropolitan Transportation Authority and police.

Metro-North sent out a transit alert just before 7:30 a.m., saying the authority would be replacing train service on the Danbury branch because of police activity to allow authorities to investigate. Service was restored just after 12:30 p.m.

Commuters were advised to use train service from Brewster or Southeast stations on the Harlem Line, or South Norwalk Station on the New Haven Line.
