A 58-year-old West Haven man died after hitting a ladder on Interstate 91 on Thursday night.
Carmine Sarno was traveling on I-91 southbound in New Haven at 7:45 p.m. when his 1998 Corvette struck a ladder that had fallen off another vehicle and went off the road, police said.
Sarno drove under about 75 feet metal guard rain and slid down the embankment, police said. Sarno was transported to Yale-New Haven Hospital, where he later died.
This is the second death from an object on the highway in less than two weeks.
Sara Beancourt, 40, of Waterbury was killed when a metal pin flew through the windshield of the vehicle she was in on Interstate 95 in Greenwich.
