Man Pulled from Lake in North Stonington Has Died: Officials

A 30-year-old man who was pulled from Billings Lake in North Stonington on Monday night has died, according to officials from the state Department of Energy and Environmental Protection.

State police and Encon police responded to the lake after a possible drowning was reported and an ambulance transported the man to Backus Hospital, where he was pronounced dead shortly after 8 p.m., according to DEEP.

The victim has been identified as Scott Hurne of Uncasville.

State Encon Police are investigating and officials said Billings Lake is not one of the 23 designated state park swim areas.
