Man Robbed Hotel, Attempted to Rob McDonalds in Hartford: Police

Hartford Police have arrested a man who is accused of robbing a hotel moments after he attempted to rob a McDonald's on Monday night.

Officers were called to the McDonald's restaurant on Weston Street after getting a report of an attempted robbery around 6:45 p.m.

The victim told police that she was working at the drive-through window and observed the suspect, later identified as 54-year-old Glenn Brown, park his vehicle.

According to police, Brown then approached the window on foot and displayed a small pocket knife and stated, "give me some change." He then climbed partially into the window and attempted to take the cash register.

Brown was scared away by other employees and fled in his vehicle, police said.

Shortly after, officers were called to the Homewood Suites Hotel on Asylum Street after getting a report of a robbery.

The complainant told police that she was working the register when the suspect, later identified as Brown, approached the counter, took a knife out of his pocket and lunged over the counter. She said Brown then grabbed cash out of the register and fled.

A security guard was summoned by the complainant, police said, and he pursued Brown until police could arrive. Officers detained Brown without incident.

Officers found Brown in possession of the knife and stolen money.

Brown, who police said is a convicted felon with 25 local arrests, is facing charges including robbery and criminal attempt at robbery.
