A 48-year-old woman was hospitalized for injuries after a man sexually assaulted her Saturday morning in a West Haven motel room, police said.
Jerome Davis, 32, of New Haven, was arrested at 11:59 a.m. Saturday after officers responded to a report that someone's sister was being sexually assaulted at the Econo Lodge at 370 Highland Street and found Davis trying to get into a locked room, police said.
When police gained access to the room, they found a woman with injuries to her arm, legs and face who had been "severely assaulted," police said. She told police she was punched, kicked, thrown to the ground and choked to the point that she lost consciousness.
An ambulance transported her to the hospital to be treated for her injuries.
Police charged Davis with second-degree assault, strangulation and disorderly conduct.
He was scheduled to appear in Milford Superior Court on Monday.
