Brothers Accused in Stabbing Surrender

The victim was stabbed several times.

Two brothers wanted in connection with a fatal stabbing in Hartford turned themselves in on Monday night, according to Hartford police.

When police responded to 425 Zion St. around 10 p.m. on Tuesday, March 13 for an assault with a knife, they found  Justin Pereira, 22, of Hartford, lying in the hallway with multiple stab wounds. He later at 10:24 p.m. at the hospital.

Police had been looking for Alex Salgado, 20, and Carlos Salgado, 22, and a green 2000 Ford Mustang, with Connecticut registration 841 XMX, believed used in connection with the incident. 

They surrendered around 3 p.m. on Monday.

Both have been charged with murder and conspiracy to commit murder, according to police, and a judge set a bond of $1.5 million for both brothers.

Police said they believe that Pereira knew the Salgado brothers and that this was not a random act of violence.
