Man Stole Bobcat from East Haven Construction Company: Cops

East Haven police have arrested a man accused of stealing $80,000 in construction equipment from a local company.

Police started investigating in March when a construction company reported that a Bobcat T750, worth about $80,000, had been stolen from a construction site near Tweed-New Haven Airport on Proto Drive, police said.

As police investigated, they learned that the stolen Bobcat was at a residence in North Haven, so police from East Haven and North Haven obtained a search warrant and went to the house, where they found the equipment, police said.

Police identified Armand Amendola, 42, as the suspected thief, arrested him on Friday and charged him with first-degree larceny.

Amendola was released after posting a $50,000 bond. He is due in court in New Haven on Nov. 26.
