Man in Critical Condition After New Haven Hotel Shooting

One man is critical condition after being shot in the head at a New Haven hotel early this morning.

Police started receiving 911 calls at 2:44 a.m. reporting that a man had been shot in the back of the La Quinta Inn at 400 Sergeant Drive.

Police arrived to a chaotic scene.

The hotel had rented several rooms on the seventh and eighth floors to groups of New Haven residents for a New Year’s party, according to police, and there were dozens of disorderly patrons.

As officers responded, dispatchers continued to receive reports of one or more fights in the front of the hotel.

The victim has been identified as Lloyd R. Streeter Jr., 20, of Goffe Street in New Haven.

EMTs began treating Streeter and rushed him to Yale-New Haven Hospital, where he was admitted and doctors told police he is listed in critical condition.

Detectives said they have interviewed several individuals, but are asking anyone who has information on this crime to call police at 203-946-6304.

This was one of two shootings at Connecticut hotels early this morning. One person was shot as a New Year's Eve party was breaking up at the Crowne Plaza in Cromwell at 2:41 a.m.
