Hartford's Planning and Zoning Commission opted not to move forward with an application for baseball park proposal at a meeting Tuesday night.
The commission has criticized the way the City Council has handled the proposed baseball park that would house the Rock Cats. On Tuesday, the commission voted to give an "unfavorable recommendation" of the proposal to the council, city officials said.
While the Hartford Mayor's Office said after midnight on Wednesday that the commission also voted to allow the "building of the ballpark in the Downtown North area," City Council member Larry Deutsch said that is not true and called that information a "distortion" or "mistake."
Instead, he said that the commission voted and gave approval "to formulate a process and criteria to evaluate any future proposals for a future stadium permit."
"There are still many unanswered questions," Deutsch said.
Last week, the Minnesota Twins ended their 20-year partnership with the Rock Cats and the Colorado Rockies signed an agreement with the team for a new partnership.
More information on the ballpark proposal will be provided when it becomes available.
