Massachusetts Man Accused of Damaging Mohegan Sculpture

A Massachusetts man has been charged with damaging a glass sculpture at the Mohegan Sun casino.

Dennis Griggs, 25, of Abington, Massachusetts, has been charged with first-degree criminal mischief.

Police told The Norwich Bulletin that Griggs was hanging over a railing and trying to touch a glass sculpture on Sunday when he fell into the Dale Chihuly artwork.

Officials put the cost of the damage at about $1,500.

Chihuly is artist who designed the famous ceiling installation at the Bellagio in Las Vegas.

His other Connecticut works have been featured at the Bushnell Theater in, the New Britain Museum of American Art and on Ocean Drive in Norwalk.

Griggs is scheduled to appear in Norwich Superior Court on May 23.
