Men Busted After Leaving Drugs Behind at Hotel: Cops

Milford police said the men tried to rent the same hotel room where the drugs were left behind.

Three Connecticut men were arrested on drugs charges after $50,000 worth of heroin was found in a Milford hotel room.

Hotel staff called police on Wednesday after employees found drugs while cleaning a room at 291 Old Gate Lane after the guests checked out, police said.

While police were at the hotel, Curran Lake, 20 of 83 Clark Street in New Haven, David Jefferson, 19, of 70 Mensil Circle in Bridgeport, and Sean Reid, 26 of 46 Lewis Place in Bridgeport, came back, asking to rent the same room that they had been staying in, police said.

Police took them into custody.

Investigators seized 3 ½ ounces of heroin and 508 packaged wax folds of heroin totaling 7.6 ounces, police said.

Some of the heroin was still in a solid form and had not been broken down into a powder.

Police said they also found packing materials, cutting agents, strainers and scales.

Lake and Jefferson were charged with possession of narcotics, possession of narcotics with intent to sell, operating a drug factory, possession of drug paraphernalia and conspiracy.

Reid was charged with conspiracy to possess narcotics, conspiracy to possess narcotics with intent to sell, conspiracy to operate a drug factory and conspiracy to possess drug paraphernalia.

Police said all three have prior convictions on narcotics charges.

Lake, Jefferson and Reid were all held on $250,000 bonds and arraigned on Thursday at Milford Superior Court, where bond was dropped to $150,000 for each of them. They are due all back in court on July 12.

Police said Jefferson was on probation at the time of the alleged crime.

Police said Lake was also found to be in violation of his parole conditions and remanded to police custody by the State of Connecticut Parole Office.
