Police are looking for the man who sexually assaulted a woman in a backyard on Lincoln Street in Meriden on Thursday morning.
The woman was walking downtown alone after leaving a friend's house early Thursday morning and an unfamiliar man was walking behind her, police said.
At Lincoln and Foster streets, he forced her into a backyard and sexually assaulted her, police said.
She was able to get away when the man was distracted and flagged down a driver, who took her to the police station.
The woman was distraught and her clothes were disheveled when she reported the crime, police said.
The victim was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment.
Police are looking for a man who was wearing black clothing.
