Woman Accused of Stabbing Boyfriend

Meriden Police say woman launched the attack in broad daylight

A Meriden woman has been charged with stabbing her boyfriend on a city street.

Tabatha Cornell, 42, is accused of stabbing Anthony Lyons, 44, in his thigh during a confrontation on the corner of Twiss Street and Miller Avenue on Thursday afternoon.

Lyons underwent surgery at MidState Medical Center for what police described as serious injuries.

Police said Cornell ran off, but was arrested a short time later.

A witness told the Meriden Record-Journal that he was walking up Twiss Street when he saw a woman shaking the victim as he got out of a car and later heard the woman crying.

Cornell was charged with assault and criminal violation of a protective order. She was being held on $250,000 bond and was scheduled to appear in Meriden Superior Court Friday.
