Middlebury Resident Could Win Brand New Dog Park

A dog owner in the Middlebury area has been selected as Beneful Dream Dog Park contest finalist, and if she wins, $500,000 will go to the dogs.

Beverly Dassonville and her dog Chloe are one of 14 finalists in this year’s contest, which will grant the winner a half-million dollar dog park renovation using some of his or her own ideas.

Dassonville’s ideas for the new park include a Doggie Fire Brigade Dream Park with a shiny firetruck replica, fire extinguishers to help dogs cool off and a big wooden bridge for them to climb.

If she wins, Dassonville will also receive $10,000 and a year's supply of Beneful dog food.

Contest finalists were chosen from more than 1,000 entrants based on their answers to the question, "If you had $500,000 to create a Dream Dog Park where you and your best buddy can play together, what would you do?"

The finalists have now created two-minute videos highlighting daily activities with their dogs and how they would benefit from a dog park renovation. Winning videos will be determined based on public vote and judges' opinions.

To vote for Dassonville's video, visit BenefulDreamDogPark.com. Voting last through Dec. 5.

The winner's renovated dog park is scheduled to be finished next summer.
