The Middletown Fireworks Festival kicked off Saturday evening, a day after being rescheduled because of rainy skies.
The weather is ideal tonight for the fireworks festival, dry and in the low 80's.
Families, food trucks and the bands all turned ready to celebrate the nation's independence.
Families filled the lawn outside City Hall in Middletown, picnicking and preparing for fireworks festivities beyond the banks of the Connecticut River.
Eight-year-old Brianna Gonzalez and little brothers Brandon and Brian love watching the colorful display of fireworks!
"They make peace signs and happy faces!" Brianna said.
A variety of Food Trucks lined the street offering customers sweet treats, burgers, ice cream and fried dough.

“We've been here 10 years!" said Jack Dunphy of Bakery Boys LLC. "I love to work here since it's the busiest night of the year and we go through a bunch of fried dough!"
In addition to the food, there's free entertainment tonight, including local band "The Basukes."
"I love the spirt of Middletown, said Shona Kerr of The Basukes. "I know I don't sound it, but every kind of person is represented in Middletown and does a phenomenal job with the fireworks and we love it."
