Milford Boy Gets Special Toys R Us Surprise

The end of an era was made a little easier for one young Milford boy thanks to a manager at his local Toys R Us store.

Terri Fischettl's son Max was not pleased when he learned Toys R Us would be closing all its US locations, and even asked his mother to buy 10 toys from the store, thinking that would keep the company in business.

Terri shared video of Max's reaction with NBC Connecticut. Soon after, Toys R Us caught wind of the video and reached out to the family, asking if they could meet Max.

Terri said the family was greeted by manager Katherine Mais and Toys R Us mascot Geoffrey, who took Max on a mini shopping spree.

Terri said Max picked out a board game and a Lego set for himself, and a second Lego set to donate to the Yale-New Haven Children’s Hospital Toy Closet. Both Max and his sister also received gift bags full of Geoffrey memorabilia.

"We can’t thank Toys R Us enough for making such a special memory for our kids and I hope as we are all trying to use up our gift cards and possibly shop around for deals as they close, we keep in mind that all these employees will soon be losing their jobs so it is important to be kind, patient, and understanding while shopping there," Terri told NBC Connecticut.
