A Milford businessman has been found guilty in a 2012 plot to hire someone to kill his ex-wife and assault his girlfriend's ex-boyfriend.
The New Haven Register reports that Gregory Christofakis, who owned an auto sales and body shop, entered his pleas to charges of attempt to commit murder and conspiracy to commit first-degree assault under the Alford doctrine, which means while not admitting guilt, he acknowledges there is sufficient evidence for a conviction. Such a plea results in a finding of guilty by the court.
Under an agreement with prosecutors, he faces up to 15 years in prison on each count at sentencing scheduled for Nov. 16.
Christofakis and his then-girlfriend, Ziba Guy, were charged with plotting to have Christofakis' ex-wife killed and Guy's ex-boyfriend assaulted.
