A 59-year-old Milford man will serve 26 years in a federal prison for soliciting and distributing child pornography in Alaska.
The U.S. attorney's office says in a release that Michael J. Carroll was sentenced Friday in U.S. District Court in Anchorage. He was convicted by a jury in February on one count of advertising child pornography and two counts of distributing it in 2011.
An undercover officer in Alaska had infiltrated an email group that received the images. Prosecutors say those depicted included children ranging in age from toddlers to those in elementary school.
Carroll unsuccessfully argued to the jury that his system had been hacked even though he was a highly skilled computer technician.
Others in the email group also have been prosecuted.
