Milford Prepares to Make Up Storm Days

As many residents continue to repair the widespread damage that Hurricane Sandy caused, Milford school officials are preparing to make changes to the school calendar because of the super storm.

The Milford Board of Education will meet on Tuesday night to address the number of days students missed due to Hurricane Sandy and last week's nor’easter.

School officials said they will have to re-work the school calendar by possibly shortening the winter vacation or extending the school year to make up for the days missed.

In Stonington, officials have already decided to shorten the February vacation and extend the school year by two days to make up for ones that were lost.

The Milford board of education is expected to come up with a plan when they meet tonight at 7 p.m.
