Retail gasoline prices in Hartford have risen 2.8 cents per gallon in the past week, averaging $3.88 a gallon as of Sunday, according to gasoline price website HartfordGasPrices.com.

In Connecticut, we are well above the national average of $3.63 a gallon, an increase of 6.3 cents per gallon in the last week.

Including the change in gas prices in Hartford during the past week, prices on Sunday were $1.10 a gallon higher than the same day last year and are 7.2 cents per gallon lower than a month ago, the gas website found. This compares with the national average, which has fallen 9.1 cents per gallon over the last month and is 91.7 cents per gallon higher than one year ago.

Prices have been on the decline, but don't start spending your savings just yet.

The Lundberg Survey says gas prices are unlikely to drop significantly in the near future because the price of oil is back up.
