Police say the mother of a 5-year-old Vernon boy who went missing on Tuesday never reported him missing and she has been charged with risk of injury.
Tiffany Farrar’s son wandered away from the family’s Thompson Street apartment at 11 a.m. on Tuesday and she began looking for him, Vernon police said.
For five and a half hours, she looked, making no attempt to call the police or flag down officers who had driven by her that day, police said.
Officers began searching the area and talking to those from the area. A short time later the youth was located at the park on West Main Street by Vernon Officers.
Around 4:30 p.m., police spoke with youth at Talcott Park, who told them that a woman was looking for a 5 year-old child and police began looking for her.
The found Farrar, 29, of Vernon, on Prospect Street. Officers charged her with risk of injury to a minor. She posted bond and is due in court on June 29.
The Department of Children and Families was contacted and took custody of the 5-year-old and other children living in the home, police said.
