More Church Break-Ins in Rocky Hill, Wethersfield

Churches in West Hartford, Rocky Hill and Wethersfield have been hit.

Days after four break-ins at churches in West Hartford,  police in Rocky Hill and Wethersfield are investigating break-ins in more churches.

Police found no sign of forced entry to Rocky Hill Congregational Church, at 805 Old Main St., when they responded at 8:07 a.m. on Monday, but there was extensive damage to the office area of the building, police said.

Police do not know what was taken.

There was also a break-in at United Methodist Church in Wethersfield on Sunday, according to the Wethersfield Police Department Facebook page. 

Police said someone forced his or her way into the building. It is not known what, if anything, anything taken.

Police tracked the culprit on foot, east from the church through woods, then out to Prospect near Maple, but the track ended there.

There was also a break-in at at the Berlin Congregational Church at 878 Worthington Ridge in Berlin sometime overnight on Jan. 18 or early on the morning of Jan.19, police said. 

The culprit or culprits forced their way in through a door and got nothing but an empty cash box. Police said they got in through one door that led them nowhere, so they forced their way into a second door. No physical evidence was recovered from the scene.

Several police departments in the greater Hartford area where similar crimes have occurred are working together.
 
West Hartford police said they found blood at one scene and shipped it to the lab to be processed. They also found fingerprints, but they have not led to identifying a suspect.
