A Stratford mother of two was discovered in bed with a 15-year-old boy she was having an, umm, relationship with. And now she's facing sexual assault charges.
A relative who lives with Blanco tipped police off, and when they went by her home to pick her up on May 17, cops found Kristen Blanco, 26, naked and in bed with the teen.
“The caller reported that this 26-year-old woman was having sexual relations with the 15-year-old at the moment in their house,” says Captain Kenneth Bakalar of the Stratford Police Department.
That relative let police in and they found the couple asleep in the basement "au naturel," according to police. But because the couple was not actually having sex, police did not arrest Blanco that day. Instead they started an investigation that included interviews with the victim and Blanco’s family.
Within weeks, police say, they had enough evidence that the couple did have sex at least once and issued an arrest warrant for Blanco. She admitted to the illicit relationship, according to police.
“She turned herself in yesterday on her own. She came in and was charged with sexual assault, second degree, and risk on injury to a minor,” said Bakalar, who added that those charges could put Blanco in prison for up to 25 years.
Neighbors, meanwhile, are stunned. Marily Brito lives across the street from Blanco and says she knows her well. The 26-year-old works in a doctor's office and spends most of her time with her two children, Brito said.
“I never saw the boy come into the house and I’m outside all the time, doing gardening and the pool and I never saw a guy -- a kid!"
The teenager's parents have been notified and the Department of Children and Families is also investigating.
As for Blanco, she was released on $2,500 bond and is set to be arraigned on July 8.
