Wallingford police are investigating the death of a woman and her infant child at a home at 102 High Street on Friday afternoon.
According to police a male resident came home and found his fiancée, 27 year-old Kathryn McCormack and their 13-month-old son unresponsive.
The Wallingford Police Department and local EMS resources responded to a frantic call for medical assistance at the house at 1:15 p.m.
McCormack was found on the floor of her basement on top of her infant son, said police.
Investigators said they found illegal narcotics and narcotic paraphernalia near the bodies.
Paramedics pronounced them dead at the scene.
The preliminary investigation shows no signs of foul play.
