Mother of Ridgefield Baby Who Died in Hot Car Says She Forgives Her Husband

A Ridgefield woman whose 15-month-old son died this month after her husband left him in a car while at work on a hot day says she forgives him.

Ridgefield resident Lindsey Rogers-Seitz, the mother of the 15-month-old boy, Benjamin Seitz, said that her husband, Kyle Seitz was extremely distraught after bringing their son to a hospital. She said she told her husband she loved him and made sure he looked at her.

Seitz drove Benjamin to Danbury Hospital after returning to his car and finding him there, police said.

The 15-month-old boy who died Monday in a hot car in Ridgefield, Connecticut has been identified as Benjamin Seitz.Police said Wednesday that the child’s father was supposed to drop him off at daycare but instead drove to his place of employment at 38A Grove Street in Ridgefield with the baby still in the car.

Kyle Seitz was supposed to drop his son, Benjamin Seitz off at daycare on July 7, but drove to work at Owl Computing Technologies at 38A Grove Street in Ridgefield instead and left him in the car for "an extended perior of time" while inside, according to police.

The 15-month-old boy who died Monday in a hot car in Ridgefield, Connecticut has been identified as Benjamin Seitz.

The temperature outside was about 88 degrees at the time and the hospital could not revive the baby.

Seitz didn't call 911 to report his baby's death, police said. It is unclear at this time why the father didn't make it to his son's daycare to drop him off or why he didn't realize his son was still in the car.

Rogers-Seitz, who also has two daughters, said in an interview Tuesday with The Associated Press that her family is grieving together.

A police investigation is continuing. The official cause of death has not been determined.
