Seymour Movie Theater Employee Injured in Armed Robbery

Seymour police are investigating the violent armed robbery of a local movie theater and are asking anyone who was in the area Monday afternoon to contact detectives.

The Entertainment Cinemas, located in the Tri-Town Plaza at 814 Derby Avenue, was robbed at knifepoint just before 5 p.m. Monday, according to police.

Authorities said a movie theater employee called 911 after the robber approached the concession stand, flashed a knife and demanded money, then got into a physical fight with a concession stand worker. The worker received several cuts but refused medical treatment, according to police.

Police said the robber grabbed money from the register and left the building. He got into a black four-door Nissan or similar car with tinted windows and fled. Police said plastic was covering the license plate.

The suspect is described as a Hispanic male standing about 5-foot-7 and weighing 210 pounds. Police said he was wearing dark pants, a black knitted hat, a black hooded jacket and a gray scarf wrapped around his face.

Anyone who was at the Tri-Town Plaza between 4:30 and 5 p.m. Monday and anyone with information is asked to call Seymour police at 203-881-7624 or 203-881-7638 or email tips@seymourpolice.com
