Muslim Student Says She Was Profiled

Former University of Bridgeport student said harasser said she was a terrorist.

A Muslim woman is suing the University of Bridgeport, claiming the university failed to investigate her claims that a fellow student sexually harassed her and instead retaliated by reporting her to the FBI based on a false claim by her harasser that she was a terrorist.

Balayla Ahmad filed the federal lawsuit on Tuesday, saying a male student sexually harassed her for months in 2009 and university officials showed "deliberate indifference" to her repeated complaints.

She also said college officials recklessly disseminated false accusations by the harasser which they had good reason to believe were unreliable and threatened her with arrest by the FBI.

Ahmad said she was dismissed from the university.

The Associated Press left an email message on Wednesday with a university spokeswoman.
