Firefighters responded to the Hotchkiss School, a boarding school in Lakeville, to put out a fire on the third floor of the Watson dormitory, according to school officials.
A call was placed to 911 and firefighters quickly contained the fire.
All students and faculty are safe and accounted for.
The damage will be assessed.
The school, located at 11 Interlaken Road, has 600 students in grades 9 through 12 and some postgraduate students.
