A dog and three cats were rescued from a house fire on Hawley Road in Oxford on Wednesday morning.
Firefighters were sent to the scene at 10 a.m. and found heavy fire coming from the attic.
Mutual aid has been called in from Southbury, Seymour, Beacon Falls, Stevenson and Middlebury.
As firefighters battled the blaze, the ladies auxiliary provided cold refreshments and sandwiches.
