Valentine, a rehabilitated seal, will be released back into the ocean on Thursday after being treated for shark wounds on his backs.
The animal rescue team from Mystic Aquarium will release Valentine into the waters of Charlestown Breachway State Beach in Charlestown, Rhode Island.
Valentine, a 1-year-male harp seal, has been under the care of Aquarium’s Marine Mammal and Sea Turtle Stranding Program, which helps animals in need and educates the public,
Valentine was rescued on Feb. 13 on Moonstone Beach in South Kingstown, Rhode Island.
Mystic Aquarium treated the animal with antibiotics and monitored him since the rescue.
