Nanny's Boss Accused of Tainting Sippy Cup

A nanny’s 2 year old child got a mouthful of what might have been bleach-tainted water when the child drank water from the pitcher at a Milford home, police said.

Police say the nanny found out about the tainted water when the child said the water in her sippy cup tasted funny.

The nanny confronted the homeowner, Peter Russell, 37, who allegedly punched her and elbowed his wife while trying to take the pitcher away from the nanny. Police say his reaction was so incriminating it was enough to charge and arrest him.
It all happened on Wednesday, police say.

Emergency workers checked the child and determine harmful amount of the tainted water was not consumed.

Authorities do not know why bleach might have been put in the pitcher.  Russell’s been charged with assault, reckless endangerment, criminal attempt to commit assault, risk of injury to a minor and disorderly conduct.  He was arraigned in Milford Superior Court on Thursday.

Friday he was back at his house at 30 Henry Albert Drive moving out with the help of polic When asked about the accusations he simply responded, "no comment."

Neighbors report the Russells are going though a divorce.  According to police no one else drank from the pitcher of water and no one was injured during the confrontation Wednesday evening.
