Nation's Air Quality is on the Rise

Connecticut Receives Mixed Grades in Latest Report

Connecticut is getting mixed reviews for air quality.

The American Lung Association released its annual "State of the Air" report, which found that air quality is the cleanest it's been in 13 years nationwide.

However, Fairfield, Middlesex, New Haven, New London and Tolland counties scored an F for high-ozone days, while Hartford County received a D and Litchfield received a C.

Windham County was not listed.

Litchfield County scored an A for particle pollution, while Hartford County scored a B, Fairfield and New London counties scored a C and New Haven scored a C.

Meteorologist Bob Maxon said the state's poor ozone grade can be attributed to Connecticut's proximity to the large cities, such as Philadelphia and New York.
