New Book Sheds Light on Avon Mountain Crash

It's been four years since the fiery crash on Avon Mountain that killed four people and injured 19 others.

Mark Robinson was one of the crash survivors, and on Thursday he released a new book called Smoke, Fire and Angels.

Robinson says he, himself, doesn't remember what actually happened during the crash on July 29, 2005, but he has spent years interviewing those involved. This book tells the story of what happened. It also honors the brave men and women who were there to help in a time of need and pays tribute to those who lost their lives in the tragic accident.

The inspiration for the title of the book came from the story of survivor Dr. Elena Tomasi and Todd Meyers, the off-duty West Hartford police officer who saved her life.

"Elena was in this daze and when she saw the white of Todd's shirt she thought of angels, and she thought to herself why are there angels in my car. And Todd, who at one point burned his arm trying to get her out, again reached in to grab her and pull her out, and within minutes of putting her on the lawn at Nassau's, her car was entirely engulfed in flames," said Robinson.

All the proceeds from the book will go to a fund that helps those who lost loved ones in the crash.
