Police ID Woman Killed in New Britain. Search Continues for Suspect

New Britain police have identified the 27-year-old woman who was shot and killed Monday night and they continue to search for the man who is accused of shooting and killing her.

Officers were called to Elam Street shortly before 6 p.m. after getting a report of shots fired and found Alice Marie Figueroa, who had been shot multiple times. She was transported to the hospital, where she later died from her injuries.

The office of the chief medical examiner determined the cause of her death was a gunshot and her death has been ruled a homicide.

Investigators said they identified 42-year-old Benjamin Morales, of New Britain, as a suspect.

Police said Morales and Figueroa were dating and have two young children. Both lived at the home.

Officers obtained an arrest warrant for Morales on Tuesday charging him with murder.

"He's considered armed and dangerous," said New Britain Police Acting Deputy Chief Jeanette Portalatin. "We're still looking for the weapon used, so we haven't found that yet. He does have a criminal history so he is armed and very dangerous individual."

Morales's whereabouts are unknown at this time.

Police said he is known to frequent New Britain and Hartford and is considered to be armed and dangerous. He should not be approached.

Morales is 5-feet-6 and has brown hair and brown eyes.

Anyone who knows of Morales's whereabouts is asked to contact New Britain Police at 860-826-3000.
