New Haven Cop Arrested on DUI Charge

New Haven police have arrested a three-year veteran of the force who is accused of driving under the influence of alcohol when he was off duty.

Derek Gartner, 26 was arrested on Wednesday. Police said he was driving under the influence of alcohol in New Haven and failed to obey a traffic signal.

Chief Limon said that he “expects his officers to be held to the highest standards and will not condone this type of behavior.”

An internal investigation will be conducted.
